#1 (Eggie’s Battle)

1. Neil’s unique art style, centered around cats, has been selected for the third time. Could you share with us the creative inspiration and concept behind this latest piece, Eggie’s Battle? Also, is there any connection to your previous series?

Summer24 Selected Work – DanDan

Winter23 Selected Work - Eggie

These past few works have mainly focused on Eggie, my cat at home. He’s a white tabby mix, and you can see the tabby characteristics from the M-shaped marking on his forehead in the artwork.

The concept for this latest piece came largely from a friend’s suggestion to incorporate some gaming elements into Eggie’s world. That’s how I came up with the idea of placing Eggie in a gunfight game setting—it felt like it would be really fun to imagine him in that kind of world.

2. Last time, your submission in the “Other” category didn’t make the final cut. Did that affect your mood at all?
Yeah, haha. The biggest downside was that Eggie didn’t get any extra treats—his snack budget took quite a hit!

3. Is creative design your main profession or a hobby?
I work professionally in graphic design and product design, while hand-drawn illustrations are my personal hobby.

4. Besides creating art, are you a gamer?
Yes, I love games—both video games and tabletop games—but I tend to prefer action RPGs over shooting games.

5. How did you first learn about the VAXEE creative submission event?
I heard about it from a good friend, and ever since I started participating, several other friends around me have joined in as well.

6. Congratulations on being selected three times! Were there any other artists’ works in this round that you liked?
Thank you for the kind wishes! I think the seasonal series featuring the pond ducks is my favorite piece from this round.

7. Has the process of turning your artwork into a product had a positive impact on you?
I feel truly empowered by receiving so much support from people through this submission contest. It makes me really happy to know that what I love is also appreciated by others.

8. How long did it take from the initial concept to completion of this submission?
From brainstorming and gathering reference materials to the actual drawing, it took about 10 hours in total.

9. Do you have any advice for friends who are interested in creating art?
I suggest starting with things you love and combining that with what the market needs—that’s a great way to begin.

10. Lastly, is there anything else you’d like to share with everyone?
I’m really happy that everyone’s appreciation has allowed my work to be showcased once again. I also want to thank VAXEE for hosting this event. Moving forward, I’ll continue sharing all sides of Eggie with everyone. Thank you!

#2 (Nova)

1. First, please introduce yourself.
Hello, my name is 魚山春鮫(うおやま はるさめ).

2. When did you start creating art? If you have any special experiences, please share them as well.
I started creating art about three years ago. Before that, I had no related experience at all.
At the time, I discovered CG through a game montage video by a certain creator, and then I learned about Blender (a 3D CG software) from people around me.

3. Please share the inspiration and process behind your Summer25 entry.
I have a deep love for the universe and draw inspiration from concepts like the birth of the cosmos and the Big Bang. That’s why I named this piece "Nova," which means a new star.
All the elements in this work were created using the 3D CG software Blender.

4. For fans who like your work, how can they find you?
I usually share my work publicly on X (formerly Twitter) under the account @osakana_hal.
You can also check out my past creations through the link in my profile.

5. Is there anything else you’d like to say to everyone?
I sincerely thank everyone for the many votes I received this time.
This is my third time participating in the event, and I’m truly happy to finally have my work turned into a product. I will continue creating in the future and appreciate everyone’s support.
